Her favorite song

“Drop.”

“Drop.”

“Drop.”

She liked the rhythm the blood droplets created. It sounded almost like music. And that, she loved. Almost as much as she had loved him. The difference was, music would never hurt her. She took the knife out of his backside, put her earphones on, and walked away.

 

A man in love

After twenty years together, she had finally become the woman of his dreams. Her icy lips. Her bloodshot eyes. Her blue-gray complexion. The rotten smell of her skin. Finally, he felt butterflies in his stomach again.

His bony hands stroke her dull hair. Not even death could do them apart.

 

Hungry mom

Linda was talking to the other neighborhood moms about the startling disappearance of Veronica. She faked it all: the worry, the tears, the gasps as the other moms speculated about what could have happened. Suddenly, she realized she still had a piece of the girl’s skin in between her teeth.

 

Gone

Sunday, 2pm.

Martha recalls the chilling screams coming in from outside her house on Friday night. She hadn’t thought twice about them until the police knocked on her door.

“Ma’am, do you know where your daughter is?”

And then it dawned on her. She hadn’t seen her in two days.

 

Big boy

Before getting in the water, his mother warned him it was too deep. He couldn’t swim, but, at 11 years old, he felt tall enough to reach the bottom. He floated away from the shore, as his mother screamed for him to come back.

The water was indeed too deep.
